🌟 This Week in Elm Class!  🌟 It’s been another busy and exciting week in class, with lots of fantastic learning taking place! 📰 English In English this week, we have written some fantastic newspaper reports about a roly-poly bird that was spotted flying over The Twits’  house! The children showed great imagination and enthusiasm, thinking carefully about headlines, reports, and eyewitness accounts. In English this week, we’ve been diving into The Twits  and having lots of fun writing letters of complaint addressed to the very grumpy Mr Twit — straight from the point of view of the Muggle-Wump monkeys! 🐒✉️ I have been so  impressed by the children’s creativity, independence, and confidence when writing. They worked hard to organise their ideas, use persuasive language, and really think about how the monkeys would feel. In Maths , we’ve continued to build our confidence

English This week, we continued to enjoy The Twits , diving into the wonderfully revolting humour of Roald Dahl. The children especially loved exploring the “Wormy Spaghetti” chapter and even had a go at writing their own versions. They came up with some truly imaginative (and very disgusting!) meals designed to trick Mr Twit—there were some brilliant ideas and lots of laughter along the way. English This week in English, we have continued reading The Twits  and have really enjoyed getting to know the mischievous characters. We’ve been exploring their personalities and settings, and the children have been busy writing detailed character and setting descriptions of Mr Twit and his house and garden. As part of our current reading and writing work on The Twits  by Roald Dahl, we will be watching short snippets from the film adaptation The Twits , which has recently been added to Netflix. These carefully selected clips will be used to support pupils’ understanding of characters, settings, and themes, and to inspire discussion and writing linked directly to the book we are studying in class. English: This week, we have been busy writing fantastic letters of complaint from the perspective of the Pied Piper, expressing our fury to the Mayor for not paying us after all our hard work removing the rats! A reminder we break up for Christmas on Friday 19th December. School finishes at 1.15pm on this date and all children must be collected at this time unless they are in Years 5 & 6 and are a home walker. Monday 5th January is a PD day therefore, school is closed on this day. All pupils return on Tuesday 6th January 2026!

We are holding our Christmas Carol service on Thursday 11th December, 1.30pm at the Baptist Church. Dear Parents and Carers, I wanted to update you regarding the ongoing issue with our school kitchen. Today, we had a wonderful afternoon experimenting with pastels in art. The children enjoyed creating their own pieces inspired by Van Gogh’s Starry Night . This week, we finished reading The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark , a story the children thoroughly enjoyed! To celebrate, they completed a quiz to test their comprehension and listening skills.
