English

This week in English, we have continued reading The Twits and have really enjoyed getting to know the mischievous characters. We’ve been exploring their personalities and settings, and the children have been busy writing detailed character and setting descriptions of Mr Twit and his house and garden. In our writing, we’ve been focusing on using adjectives and adverbials of place to make our descriptions exciting and vivid.

Note: Please refer to our recent post about consent if you would like your child to watch clips from the new The Twits film.

Maths

In Maths, we are continuing our learning about money. This week, we have been creating different amounts and finding equivalent amounts—skills that are really useful in real life, even as we become increasingly cashless! The children have been practising using coins and notes to solve practical problems.

PE

We are very excited about our PE units this half term! Our gymnastics sessions are themed “Under the Sea,” and in dance, we are exploring “Plants.” This week, we had a go at partner balances and created movements inspired by growth, helping us develop strength, coordination, and creativity. Reminder that PE for Year 2 is on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Please continue to access Mathletics and Spelling Shed at home and practice spellings ready for the spelling test on Monday!

Our Crowmoor Certificate Winner this week is Ava. Our Winner taking Rex home this week is Gracie. Well done both!

Have a great weekend
