Willow Class Weekly Newsletter 3.10.25

This week in Year 6, we have been working hard across all areas of our learning.

In Writing, the children have been stepping into the shoes of Judge Malone to write persuasive letters explaining why Camp Green Lake (from our class novel Holes) could actually be a suitable punishment for juveniles. The children really enjoyed exploring arguments from the other side and showed great creativity in their reasoning.

In Maths, we have continued with our unit on the four operations—Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division. The children demonstrated fantastic understanding of the short division method in particular.

In Science this week we have been looking at helpful and harmful microorganisms. We discussed how to fight off a virus when we get ill and the use of bacteria in cheese and yoghurt. We have set up an investigation to record mould growth on bread in different conditions which we will be monitoring over the next week.

Finally, we would like to celebrate the children’s progress in Swimming; it is such an important part of the curriculum, and we are very proud of their effort and determination.

Well done to this week’s certificate winner Tyler

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Bliss and Mr Jones
