It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 5!

In Music, we have wrapped up our unit on Adele. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring her music, discussing the emotions conveyed in her songs, and developing their own performance and listening skills. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they analysed lyrics and practised their singing.
In English, we have continued reading The Titanic Detective Agency, which has completely captured the class’s imagination. The mystery and historical setting have inspired fantastic discussions and thoughtful predictions. Alongside this, the children have been writing balanced arguments debating whether children should or should not have mobile phones. They have worked hard to present clear reasoning, consider both sides carefully, and support their opinions with strong evidence.
In Maths, we have been focusing on decimals and fractions. The class has shown great perseverance when tackling challenging problems, particularly when converting between fractions and decimals and applying their understanding to reasoning tasks.
Our History learning about the Titanic has continued to fascinate the children. They have loved discovering more about life on board, the ship’s design, and the events surrounding its voyage. Their curiosity and thoughtful questions have been impressive.
Looking ahead, the class has begun planning their upcoming Art and Design & Technology projects, which we will complete next term. There is already lots of excitement about bringing their ideas to life.
Well done for another fantastic week of learning! Happy half term!
