Hello everyone,
We have had another busy and enjoyable week in Year 5!
➕ Maths
This week, we have revisited the column method for addition and subtraction. The children have been developing their confidence in setting out calculations correctly and carefully working through each step. We have focused on checking our work and using efficient methods to solve problems accurately.
📖 Reading & ✍️ Writing
In Reading and Writing, we have continued exploring our class book and have enjoyed learning more about the story, characters, and setting.
In Writing, the children have been working hard to create their own setting descriptions. They have used exciting vocabulary, expanded noun phrases, and descriptive techniques to help bring their settings to life for the reader.
💻 Online Safety Workshop
This week, we also took part in an Online Safety Workshop. The children learned about staying safe online, making sensible choices when using technology, and what to do if they encounter anything that makes them feel uncomfortable.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and supported our online safety session. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to learn more about keeping children safe online and helping us reinforce these important messages at home.
✝️ RE
In RE this week, the children learned about stained glass windows and their importance within churches. They then designed and created their own stained glass windows, carefully thinking about the colours, symbols, and images they wanted to include. The children were able to explain what their designs represented and how they reflected their own ideas, beliefs, or values. We were very impressed with their creativity and the thoughtful explanations behind their work.
⭐ Well Done!
Thank you to all the children for their hard work and enthusiasm this week. We are very proud of the effort they continue to show in all areas of their learning.
Have a wonderful weekend!
