Chestnut Newsletter 3.10.25

Another fabulous week in Chestnut Class!

The children are all working on their throwing and catching skills. Whilst we still have some daylight after school, please help your child to practice throwing and catching a ball accurately. Throwing and catching a ball develops key motor and sensory skills like hand-eye coordination, fine motor control, and balance, which are beneficial from early childhood to older adulthood. To improve, focus on tracking the ball with your eyes, timing your movements to predict its path, and using a preparatory "ready" position with cupped hands for catching.

The children have loved this week's book - 'Harry and the Dinosaurs make a Splash' by Ian Whybrow.

We have pretended to be Harry and written the events into a diary.

In maths, we have started to use Part/Whole Models to partition numbers in different ways. The children are using the 'plus' + symbol to write simple addition sentences. Find out more here Finding a part using a part-whole model - KS1 Maths resources for Year 1 - BBC Bitesize
