Welcome back!
I hope you have all had a restful half term break, it was great to see the children back on Monday!
We have had a good start to a busy half term. We have shared the story of 'Chicken Licken' and written setting descriptions. I am really pleased with the progress the children are making in their writing!

In maths, we have completed our learning about 'Place Value within 50'. Next week we will be starting to measure and compare 'Length and Height'. Please continue to talk to your child about numbers to 50. Can they count in 2s, 5s and10s? Practice as often as possible so they recognise the pattern and rhythm of the numbers.
The children enjoyed role playing the story of 'David and Goliath' with Mrs Armstrong. This is a bible story that is important in Christianity and Judaism. With Mr Jones, they are finding out about hot and cold places on our planet.
In Science, we are starting to learn about plants and to recognise and name common British flowers and trees. We will be planting seeds and looking after them throughout the rest of the year. Last year's class grew some very tall sunflowers!

On Thursday, it is World Book Day. The children are welcome to come to school dressed as a book character if they wish. We would also love to see their favourite book and are encouraged to bring it to school to share with the class. There will be lots going on during the day!

Please remember that school shoes must be worn on the days we do not do PE.
Have a fab weekend,
Mrs Dowell, Mrs Armstrong and Mr Jones.
