What a fantastic week we have had learning about our Earth and how to look after it!

We have shared the book 'Dear Earth' by Isabel Otter. It is about a girl who writes a letter to the Earth saying what she wants to explore around the world. The children have enjoyed planning and writing a letter of their own telling Earth what they would do as an explorer!

What would you explore?

In maths we have completed our introduction to fractions. Most children can recognise half of an object and find half of a quantity. Some are struggling to find a quarter: remember to halve then halve again to find a quarter. Please practice using a group of small objects which can be divided equally by four.

As part of their learning about Mary Anning, the Fossil Hunter, we have made our own fossils which we will be carefully excavating next week. The children were very excited with the process. We can't wait to see the results!

Soon after half term, the children will be taking part in the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.

Please have a fun weekend and stay safe in the sun!
