Chestnut Class Newsletter 7.11.25

What a great start to the new half term, we are really in the lead up to Christmas now! We are really pleased to welcome Mrs Mitchell to our Crowmoor Team.

On Tuesday, we will be going on a walk around the school grounds to see the signs of autumn as part of our science curriculum. Please send your child into school with some wellies, boots or old shoes that they can change into as they will probably get muddy.

This week we have enjoyed 'That Rabbit belongs to Emily Brown' by Cressida Cowell. The children have learnt that she is also the author of the 'How to Train your Dragon' books! We have used adjectives to write a character description of Emily. Not just what she looks like, the children have really thought about the kind of person she is based on the events in the story. They are becoming very good at describing emotions and recognising their own feelings.

In maths, the children have been subtracting by crossing out. Next week they will learn to subtract by counting back on a number line.

Please keep listening to your child read at home, just a short time every day will make a huge difference to their confidence and fluency.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Dowell, Mrs Mitchell and Mr Jones.
