What an excellent first week back we have had!
The children are enjoying our new book 'That Rabbit belongs to Emily Brown' by Cressida Cowell. We have written character descriptions about Emily who has a toy rabbit called Stanley. Unfortunately, Queen Gloriana the Third wants Stanley for herself and won't take 'No' for an answer!
In maths, we have started to solve subtraction by crossing out and will move on to using a number line next week. The children are developing their understanding of Fact Families and how addition & subtraction are linked.
5 + 4 = 9
4 + 5 = 9
9 - 5 = 4
9 - 4 = 5
They have started to learn where to find the United Kingdom on a world map. Over the next few weeks the children will learn about all the countries which make up the U.K. and their capital cities.
In History, they have discussed the monarchy and given their opinions on what good and bad rules would be if they were a monarch!
All the children are making progress with reading. Please make sure you continue to support your child with their reading at home. To make this even more accessible, all Year 1 children have access to e-book versions of the books they are reading in school. To access these, please follow the link below and use the username and password which they will bring home on Friday. Any problems, please let me know via chestnut@crowmoorschool.co.uk.
A reminder that PE is on Monday and Tuesday each week. Hoodies and tracksuit bottoms need to be plain navy or black. School jumpers and cardigans should be worn if these are not available.
Full uniform, including school shoes, needs to be worn on other days.
Have a fabulous weekend,
Mrs Dowell and Mrs Armstrong.
