This week we read the story The Train Ride about a child who goes on a train journey to see their Grandma at the seaside.

The children drew and wrote about who they would go visit on a train, what the train was like and where they would go. We also talked about special people in our lives, with Father's Day being on Sunday, and the children all made cards and wrote them to their chosen person. They are sealed in brown envelopes in their bags, if they've forgotten to take them out!
In phonics we are continuing with Phase 4 of the Little Wandle programme, reading longer words and working on fluency. It is really important the children read regularly to help them gain confidence with blending and also begin to recognise repeated words. Just 5-10 minutes a day can make all the difference.
In Maths we revisited number bonds to 5 and 10 and explored how we can use those number facts to solve other first, then, now story problems e.g. If we know 8+2=10 then we know 10-2=8. We will continue to practice recalling bonds to 5 and 10 over the next few weeks.
We ended the week with a fantastic Sports Day. I am sure you will agree all the children made a fantastic effort and did brilliantly. Thankyou to everyone who came along and cheered them on.
Have a great weekend.
