Willow Weekly Newsletter 7/11/25

It has been so lovely to see all the children back after the half-term break! They have returned full of energy and enthusiasm, ready to learn, and I am excited to see the wonderful progress we will make together this term.

This week, we began our new class novel, The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf. The story follows Ahmet, a young refugee, as he settles into a new school and makes new friends. We are really looking forward to sharing this story as a class and discovering the adventures Ahmet and his friends experience along the way.

In Maths, we have started our new unit on Fractions. The children have been learning about equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, and ordering them on a number line.

In History, we have begun exploring the Monarchy, looking at how it has changed over time and learning about some of the significant events that have shaped it.

In Music, our new topic is Jazz. We started by listening to and appraising Bacharach Anorak by Ian Gray.

Year 6 will continue swimming until 28th November.

Finally, a gentle reminder that hoodies should not be worn during P.E. lessons for health and safety reasons. More information can be found in the Uniform Policy on our school website.

Well done to this week’s certificate winner Noah.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Bliss and Mr Jones
