We’ve had another brilliant week in Willow Class!
In Reading, we started our new class text Holes. The children are excited to explore this story together—there’s also a film version (PG rated) if they’d like to watch it at home.
In English, we have been writing detailed character descriptions about Stanley Yelnats, while also continuing to develop our handwriting.
In Maths, we began our place value unit and have been working with numbers all the way up to 100,000,000—an impressive challenge that the children are tackling with enthusiasm.
In History, we started our new topic on Leisure and Entertainment, looking at how holidays and travel have changed over time.

Meanwhile, in Geography, we explored where rivers come from as part of our Raging Rivers topic and mapped their journeys.
We’re also pleased to share a change in swimming sessions. Year 6 swimming lessons will now continue every Friday until 14th November, as we believe it’s so important for children to develop this essential life skill.
Well done to this week’s certificate winner Skyla.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Bliss and Mr Jones
