Things To Do this Easter in Shrewsbury and Beyond.

Here’s our guide to family days out throughout the Easter school holidays.


Shrewsbury Spring Celebration Trail: A giant rabbit has arrived in the Town Square. Original Shrewsbury has created a trail so you can work out his name. View the trail map HERE. Once you’ve worked it out, write the name on your card and submit it on the website HERE to be entered into a competition. There’s a bonus spring craft day at Swan Hill Studios on March 31st. Drop in anytime 10am – 4pm, and if you bring a completed trail card, the first ten through the door will also win a prize.

Easter Spring Trail: Become a super explorer and hunt for hidden treasures, learn fascinating facts, and complete fun challenges as you explore the museum. Suitable for ages 5+.

Art Explorers: Drop in to squish, stamp, and swirl your own prints inspired by the spring-themed treasures in the museum galleries. No booking needed – just pop in during the session times. Suitable for ages 2-12.

Clay Creatures: Explore the museum's collection to spot animals, patterns and shapes from nature, then use what you discover to sculpt your own Easter-inspired clay creation. You will learn simple clay techniques, such as joining, shaping, imprinting and adding texture. You are welcome to drop off children for this event. Booking is essential. Suitable for ages 5-11 years.

Easter Storytelling with Danielle Free: An Easter storytelling session with local storyteller Danielle Free, featuring Easter‑themed tales inspired by quirky and curious objects from the museum collection. Tickets cost £8 and must be booked in advance. Suitable for ages 2-8 years.

Castle Quest - Imagination Playground: Use giant foam blocks to design and construct towering castles, secret passageways, and mythical landscapes. Children can also get up close to a real painting in the museum and discover its magical details – then create their own castle-inspired art and craft using a variety of fun, hands-on materials. Sessions are 10am - 12pm and 12.30pm - 2.30pm. Suitable for ages 1-8.

Get Creative: A hands‑on painting workshop. Explore the museum’s natural history collection for inspiration, from flowers and insects to birds, patterns, and seasonal colours, before creating your own spring‑themed artwork to take home. You are welcome to drop off children and young people for this event. Suitable for ages 5-11 years. Tickets are £12 per person and must be booked in advance.

The Great EGGscape: Step behind an original prison door and work together as a family to hunt for hidden clues and solve fun, interactive puzzles. With the clock ticking, teamwork, problem-solving, and quick thinking will be your way to freedom.

Three Little Pigs on April 7th & 8th in the Walker Theatre

Theatre Severn has lots booked in for the holidays, including shows from local performance groups. Key shows include:

  • Rude Science on March 30th - Outrageous science stunts from BBC Gastronaut Stefan Gates

  • The Sooty Show on April 2nd - Lots of laughs with Sooty, Sweep and Soo – watch out for Sooty’s supercharged water pistol!

  • Three Little Pigs on April 7th & 8th - bringing new life to the classic story with catchy songs, clever rhymes, and heaps of humour.

Easter Adventures at Attingham Park: Discover Attingham through the nation's favourite pastime, Gameshows! Explore the trail inspired by some of the all-time greats. Each trail costs £3.50 and includes the Easter trail sheet, bunny ears, a take-home activity card and a chocolate egg when you've finished. Booking is not required, but normal admission charges apply. Available while stocks last. One egg per trail sheet purchased.

Retro Gaming Fun and Family Trail: The Darwin Centre is hosting a retro gaming-inspired event with interactive activities, a themed trail, and prizes for all ages. On April 3rd, fans of classic gaming can enjoy special character appearances throughout the day. A gaming-themed trail will run from March 28th to April 12th. Pick up a trail sheet from Megastore Collectables and hunt for gaming-inspired pictures around the centre. Returned sheets get entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a Super Mario-themed prize pack. No booking required. The event and trail are free and open to all visitors.


Eggs and Nests: Learn all about birds’ eggs and nests, ready for Easter. Explore the collection of perfect replicas and real nests and have a go at the nest-building challenge. Fun facts, the science behind it all and everything in between. A drop-in event.

The Cut Visitor Centre | April 2nd, 10.30am - 3.30pm

LovelyLand Community Green Day: A free drop-in event celebrating sustainability. The event includes storytelling by Jake Evans throughout the day, a Beaver Trail Talk and activities from Shropshire Wildlife Trust, a book swap for children and adult books, a children’s clothes swap table, making seed bombs with Garden Organic, and learning about Shrewsbury Food Hub. Anthea Renton will be running a visible mend workshop, so bring a garment you need to fix or just have a go with the materials supplied. This event is free, and no booking is required.

Easter Trail at Salop Leisure: The award-winning caravan and motorhome dealership at Emstrey is offering a trail for children to take part in over Easter weekend. Collect the trail sheet from the reception at Salop Leisure, before exploring Salop Leisure and LovePlants to find hidden letters. Once you have completed the mystery word, you can hand in the trail sheet at reception and exchange it for a chocolate egg. The trail is free to take part in, but Salop Leisure welcomes donations for their chosen charity, Severn Hospice. Available while stocks last.

Children's Holiday Sewing Club: Make your own creations with help from a talented tutor using a Janome sewing machine. What you sew will depend upon your age and abilities. There will be a variety of projects to choose from on the day, and materials will be provided. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for ages 6-12 years.

Shrewsbury Easter Dash: There are 2.5K, 5K and 10K options, in aid of Severn Hospice. Whether it is families just wanting to walk the route and raise some money or serious runners looking to smash their PB, everyone is welcome. Medal and Easter egg for all finishers.

Quarry | April 4th, 11am

Smokehouse Feasting: Hickory's Smokehouse Shrewsbury is welcoming families for a BBQ feast. Think slow-smoked BBQ, comfort food favourites and big, generous plates. With a movie room and tabletop activities, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained while the grown-ups relax and enjoy some good food and drink.

Easter Family Fun Day: There will be music, sweet stalls, inflatable fun and soft play, a food van, ice cream, and face painting.

Further Afield


Park Hall Countryside Experience in Oswestry is hosting an Easter event every day of the upcoming school holidays, from March 28th until April 12th. Meet the baby rabbits, take part in the Great Egg Hunt in the Hay, have a photo with the Easter bunny, hunt for the Golden Egg, and watch the farm team compete in the daily bunny run. You can also meet the animals, take tractor rides, and explore their indoor and outdoor play areas. Tickets are £14.95 online or £16.95 at the gate. The Great Egg Hunt in the Hay costs an additional £1 to take part.

Exotic Zoo in Telford is open daily for the Easter holidays from March 28th to April 12th. During the Easter holidays, there will be baby chicks, baby quails and ducklings, and the


chance to name one of the baby goats. The zookeepers will educate visitors with talks throughout the day, and they will reveal a new animal arrival at the zoo. You can watch the keepers feed the animals, win prizes with the Easter Egg Hunt, meet palaeontologist Tom and learn all about the biggest egg, and enjoy arts, crafts and facepainting. Adult tickets are £12, child tickets are £10, and under 2s go free.


Hawkstone Park Follies is running The Dragon Egg Easter Trail from April 3rd to 6th. Naughty trolls have scattered dragon eggs around the park. Find the eggs before they hatch! A normal day pass is required to visit the Follies, and an additional £3 is payable on the day to participate in the trail (which can’t be booked in advance). A chocolate prize or an actual miniature dragon egg will be awarded upon completion. There are limited prizes available per day, and these will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
