🌟 Another Busy Week in Elm Class! 🌟

We’ve had a wonderful week packed with exciting new learning across the curriculum!

📚 English

In English, we have been focusing on setting descriptions, working hard to make our sentences more interesting by varying sentence structure and improving flow. The children have shown great creativity when describing different settings, thinking carefully about vocabulary choices to really paint a picture for the reader.

In Reading, we started our brand new class text, Einstein the Penguin. We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the characters and are already full of predictions and questions about what might happen next!

📏 Maths

In Maths, we have started learning about length, using centimetres and metres. The children have been measuring real-life objects around the classroom and even headed outside to map out the size of different animals on the playground! It has been fantastic to see such practical, hands-on learning in action.

PE

In PE, we have begun exploring ‘bat and ball’ games and invasion games. The children have been practising their coordination skills using tennis rackets, as well as developing control and dribbling skills with a football, basketball, and hockey stick and ball. There has been lots of teamwork, encouragement, and active fun!

📖 Reminder – World Book Day

A reminder that World Book Day is next Thursday 5th March. Children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. I can’t wait to see all of the fantastic costumes — it’s always such a special day celebrating our love of reading!

Our Crowmoor Certificate winner this week is Sara! And taking Reading Rex home this weekend is Tailyn! Well done both!

Have a great weekend
