Happy Friday!
The children have soon settled back after the half term.
This week we have been looking at the story 'The Ugly Duckling'. During our drawing club sessions, we have been drawing the duck, farm and when another egg was found, what we thought might be in it.
We have been talking about signs of spring and the children have enjoyed exploring any signs they can see in our outdoor area. We have also been looking at the lifecycle of a duck, using a net to catch ducks in the water, making ducks with playdough and labelling parts of a duck.

We have also talked about Chinese New Year. The children have enjoyed creating lanterns and dragons and using chopsticks.
In Maths, we have been looking at 9 and 10. We found 9 and 10 around our environment, shown representations of 9 and 10, used our subitising skills to look at what we noticed in 9 and 10 and have compared amounts using language more and fewer.
We have been going over all sounds the children have learnt so far and we have given sound cards for any they need more practise with. Please help your child by practising these at home and listening to them read. Thank you.
Have a great weekend.
Mrs Fairclough and Mrs Kenny
