Beech Class Weekly News 19.9.25

The children have enjoyed our book ‘The Colour Monster’ this week.

We looked at the words: shimmering, sobbing, timid and discombobulated then created our own monster. Yesterday, the emotion thief took our emotion teddies from our book corner as he was feeling discombobulated. Luckily, they have returned, and we helped him by talking and drawing about different emotions and what we can do when we feel those different emotions.

In maths, we have been sorting, matching and making a set. During our activity time some children created sets for the colour monster.

Lottie won our certificate this week for settling so well into Beech Class. She has been courageous by joining and playing with others and it has also been great hearing her talk more to adults and children. Well done, Lottie!

Today, your child has brought home a wordless book to share with you. This is a book we have looked at in class. As you look at the wordless books with them, please encourage them to look at the pictures, think and talk about what might be happening to tell the story. This helps them get used to sharing a book, holding it the right way up, turning the pages correctly and enjoy sharing books and reading. The other book they have brought home is one they have chosen from our book corner for you to read to them.

Please record in their reading record each time you read with them, (title, date and a comment or just initial) whether it is their wordless book or ‘free choice’ book, so we know that you have read with them. Thank you.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Fairclough, Mrs Green and Mrs Kenny
