In English, we have been exploring Narrative Writing. The children analysed a key text inspired by the short film Christmas Truce, identifying a range of narrative features. They were able to spot effective openers, descriptive vocabulary used to convey setting, characters, and atmosphere, as well as dialogue that revealed character and helped move the action forward. The class showed great enthusiasm when discussing how these techniques help an author create emotion and build tension.
In Maths, we have begun our new unit on Measure. This week, the children focused on converting metric units, applying their understanding of place value to make accurate conversions between millimetres, centimetres, metres, and kilometres. They have shown increasing confidence and are beginning to apply these skills to problem-solving activities.
Our science topic this term has been ‘electricity’. Last week the children planned their own investigations on circuits and this week they had the opportunity to use the circuit equipment to carry out their investigations.

A quick note that P.E will take place on Wednesday next week, so please ensure children come into school wearing their P.E kits on that day.
Well done to this week’s certificate winner Betsy.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Bliss and Mr Jones
