Weekly Newsletter 16.1.25

We have had a great week in Willow Class.

In Reading, we have begun our new class text Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. The children are already intrigued by the story, and we are looking forward to exploring the powerful themes within the book, including ethics, friendship and difficult choices. We started by learning about the author and her background to help us better understand the context of the text.

In Writing, we have been developing our non-fiction skills by writing a balanced argument. We wrote about one of the following topics: School uniform, video games and footballers pay.

In Maths, we have been continuing our unit on Algebra. This week, we explored step function machines, which help children understand how numbers change through a series of operations and how rules can be applied consistently.

In History, we have started our new unit on the Vikings, Anglo-Saxons and Scots, exploring a timeline of key events during the Viking period and also learning about key Anglo-Saxon kings including Alfred the Great.

A reminder that P.E. lessons take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays this term.

Well done to this week’s certificate winner Reggie.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Bliss and Mr Jones
