Sycamore Newsletter - 11/9/26
Dear Parents,
What a fantastic first full week we have had in Year 4! The children have settled into our routines brilliantly and have made a wonderful start to the new school year. It has been lovely to see their enthusiasm, positive attitudes and willingness to get stuck into their learning.
In Maths, we have started our new topic on place value, exploring numbers up to 10,000. The children have been developing their understanding of the value of each digit and representing numbers in different ways.
In Reading, we have begun our new class book, Into the Volcano by Jess Butterworth. The children have already shown great enthusiasm for the story and are enjoying discussing the characters, setting and events.

In English, we have started exploring setting descriptions. We have been thinking carefully about how authors use interesting vocabulary and descriptive language to help the reader imagine a place. We have already seen some fantastic ideas from the children!
A small reminder regarding PE: children must remove all earrings before taking part in PE lessons. If your child is unable to remove their earrings independently, please ensure they are taken out before coming to school on PE days. Unfortunately, staff are unable to remove earrings for children.
As always please keep up the daily reading.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Mr Reynolds
