Sycamore Newsletter - 1.5.26

Good afternoon,

I have been very impressed this week with the children's attitudes to their English and maths work. They are really trying hard with their presentation whilst focusing on the learning, I hope this continues for the rest of the year.

In English, we are now looking at narratives, which will lead us next week to the children writing their own stories. In maths we have started a new unit on money. The children did well this week at researching the differences between the two polar regions, understanding the difference in land and in animals. In computing we are looking at photo editing.

Yesterday we completed our first practice times-table check, this is to help the children prepare for the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) which will happen in June. Multiplication tables check: information for parents - GOV.UK We have a few children who are very close to passing their weekly times tables that we do in school, please keep encouraging the children to practice these.

As always, please keep up the daily reading at home and encouraging the children to consolidate their learning on Mathletics.

On Monday 11th May for our Art lesson, we are going to try painting whilst lying down. We have spare tops in school for this purpose but if the children wish to bring their own old top in to put over their uniform for the afternoon they may do so.

I hope you have a fun extended weekend,

Mr Reynolds
