Sycamore - 19.9.25

Good afternoon,

This week the children have kept up the hard work as we have continued with our setting description in English and our Place Value work in maths. Some of the children's setting descriptions are wonderful, it allows you to really picture the setting without actually seeing the image. They have used a range of fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases in order to do this.

In art we have been focusing on finding the detail in our drawings. We are currently using leaves as our stimulus and this week we tried to see how much detail we could draw just using pencils. Here are some of the results.

In computing we have continued exploring networks and how everything is linked, as well understanding some specific terms such as 'domain', 'upload' and 'browser'. For our look into the stone age, we discussed the findings on Skara Brae and how that has helped our understanding of how people lived thousands of years ago.

I am really happy with how many children are currently reading regularly at home, they are really showing how much of a benefit it is giving them in class, please keep this up.

Just a reminder that the children can also access mathletics and edshed (our online maths and spelling programmes) from home and it is great to see our class is currently top of the leader board in both.

Hope you all have a great weekend,

Mr Reynolds
