Good afternoon,
We have had a very positive week this week in Sycamore Class. We completed our Star Reader Test and lots of children have gone up in their reading comprehension and along side this we are only 250,000 words off of our Christmas target. The children are very keen to reach this target so please keep encouraging them to read at home.
In English we have finished our unit on character descriptions, most of the children have tried very hard to incorporate a range of fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases to really build up a picture of what the character is like.
We are currently two weeks into our multiplication and division unit in maths, we have looked at our 3s, 6s and 9s so far and will be moving on to 7s, 11s and 12s in the coming weeks. The children can use Mathletics or sites like Hit The Button at home to help themselves develop their confidence.
This term in art we have been using leaves as our inspiration, and this week it has led us to try and create a leaf that looks real by using water colours. Have a look at some of the examples below and see if you can spot the fake leaf.

Hopefully, on the calendar of events, you have seen that Year 4 have their inspire afternoon from 2pm-3pm on Thursday 27th November. This is a chance for the children to show off some of the more creative things we have been up to in class and also then have the chance to work collaboratively with you to create something. It would be great to see as many of you as possible, please just let your child know if you are planning on attending.
Finally, just to keep you updated, we will be going swimming after Christmas, starting on Friday 9th January.
As always, if you need to contact me directly please email sycamore@crowmoorschool.co.uk
Hope you have a great weekend,
Mr Reynolds
