Good afternoon,
We have had a very positive first full week back in Sycamore Class. Our first class book of the year is 'Into the Volcano' by Jess Butterworth and it has really got straight into the action and has us trying to predict what is going to be happening next.

In our writing lessons we have started with setting descriptions and have been trying to get a bit more technical with how we write; our focus areas are fronted adverbials, commas for clarity and expanded noun phrases. The children have produced some very good descriptive pieces today and I hope this continues.
In maths we are continuing with Place Value, making sure we really understand what digits are worth all the way up to 10,000. We have been looking at partitioning and 1 more and 1 less of each place value column.
The children really enjoyed comparing websites in computing this week. We looked at Home - CBBC Newsround, National Geographic Kids and Home | Crowmoor Primary | Shropshire. They came up with a great range of comparisons and were very good explaining why certain things were on each website.
As always please keep up the reading at home.
I hope you have a great weekend,
Mr Reynolds
