Oak Weekly Newsletter - 17.4.26

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you’ve had a wonderful week. Here’s what the children have been learning in class:

Mathematics – Angles

This week, pupils have been exploring angles. They have learned to identify and measure different types of angles, including acute, obtuse, and right angles. The children have also been practising using protractors accurately and applying their knowledge to solve problems.

English – Balanced Arguments

In English, we are focusing on writing balanced arguments. Our key question is: “Should school uniform be banned?” Pupils are learning how to present both sides of an argument clearly, using persuasive language, conjunctions, and structured paragraphs. They are working towards writing their own balanced discussion pieces.

Art – Mayan Portrait Sketches

In Art, the children have begun sketching Mayan-inspired portraits. They are studying patterns, facial features, and traditional designs linked to Mayan culture, and practising shading and detail to improve their drawing skills.

History – The Mayan Timeline

Our History lessons continue to focus on the Ancient Maya. This week, pupils have been creating timelines to understand key events and periods within the Mayan civilisation. They are developing a sense of chronology and exploring how the civilisation changed over time.

Physical Education – Bowling and Batting

In PE, pupils have been developing their skills in bowling and batting. They are learning techniques for accuracy, control, and teamwork through a range of engaging activities and games.

Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to another exciting week of learning!
