This week in Year 5 has been full of exciting learning across the curriculum!

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day, and it was wonderful to see the children arrive in fantastic costumes inspired by their favourite characters. Throughout the day, we shared stories, discussed our favourite books, and took part in reading activities that celebrated the joy of literature. The children showed great enthusiasm and many spoke confidently about the books they love.
In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of fractions, decimals and percentages. The class explored how these concepts are connected and practised converting between them. Pupils used visual models and problem-solving activities to deepen their understanding and apply their knowledge in different contexts.
In English, the children have been working on setting descriptions. We focused on using ambitious vocabulary, sensory details and figurative language to bring places to life for the reader. The pupils enjoyed creating vivid descriptions and thinking carefully about how atmosphere can be built through word choice.
Our History lessons took us back to the medieval period, where we explored what life was like during this time. The children discussed key aspects of medieval society and the hierarchy and job roles in villages.
In PE, we continued to develop our tennis skills. The class practised control, accuracy and coordination through a variety of drills and small games. It has been great to see the children improving their racket control and working well with partners.
Well done to Year 5 for another fantastic week of effort, enthusiasm and teamwork!
