Another brilliant but busy week in Year 5!

🏊‍♂️ Swimming – Final Week & Fantastic Achievements

This week marked our last swimming session. We are incredibly proud of the progress the children have made. Many Year 5 pupils have successfully achieved their 25 metres, showing determination and confidence in the water. Well done to everyone for their effort throughout the term!

🔬 Science – Testing Water Resistance

In Science this week, the children have been exploring water resistance. They investigated how different shapes move through water and considered why streamlined designs are more efficient. There was lots of excitement during our practical activities, and the children enjoyed predicting, observing and explaining their findings.

📚 History – Women in the War

As part of our History topic, we learned about the vital roles women played during the war. The children explored how women worked in factories, served in the armed forces, supported communication efforts and kept life going on the home front. They were fascinated by the bravery, skill and resilience shown by women during this time.

✏️ English – Short Stories Inspired by Catch It

In English, Year 5 have been writing their own short stories, inspired by the animation Catch It from Literacy Shed. They focused on creating atmosphere, building tension and developing character emotions. The creativity on display has been fantastic, and the children really enjoyed bringing their ideas to life.

➗ Maths – Assessment Week

This week has been assessment week in Maths, and the children have worked incredibly hard. We are very proud of the focus and determination they have shown.

⭐ It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We finished the week with a whole-school Pantomime! The children were very excited to have the opportunity to watch a live performance in our very own school hall!
