What a fantastic final week before half term! The children have worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of all they have achieved.

🔢 Maths

This week, we have been learning about factors and prime numbers. The children explored how numbers can have different factors and learnt how to identify prime numbers by investigating how many factors they have. We practised these skills through a variety of activities and challenges.

📚 Reading

We finished our class novel, Letters from the Lighthouse. The children thoroughly enjoyed following Olive's journey through World War II and discussing the themes, characters and events within the story. We reflected on the ending and shared our thoughts about the book as a whole.

✍️ Writing

Using our knowledge of Letters from the Lighthouse, we wrote our own book reviews. The children practised summarising the story, sharing their opinions and recommending the book to other readers using persuasive language and thoughtful comments.

🗺️ Geography

In Geography, we learnt about grid references and used maps to locate places accurately. We also explored how places change over time and how maps can provide clues about these changes, helping us understand what an area was like in the past compared to today.

🚂 History

Our History learning focused on the important role of women on the railways during World War II. We discovered how women stepped into essential jobs on the trains and railways while many men were away fighting in the war. The children were fascinated to learn how their contributions helped keep the country moving during such a challenging time.

⭐ A huge well done to all the children for their hard work, enthusiasm and positive attitude this half term. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and achievements grow across all areas of learning.

🍂 Have a lovely half term break and enjoy a well-deserved rest. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the holiday! 😊
