What a fantastic start to the term we’ve had in Oak Class! The children have settled in brilliantly, and we are already diving into lots of exciting learning.
📖 English
We have been exploring how to write setting descriptions, using powerful adjectives and the five senses to bring places to life. The children are really enjoying adding detail and atmosphere to their writing.
🔢 Maths
Our focus has been on partitioning numbers up to 1,000,000 and using number lines to develop our place value skills. The children are showing great resilience and accuracy.
🔬 Science
Our new topic is Living Things. We have started to think about how we classify and group animals and plants, and we’ll continue to investigate the amazing variety of life around us.
🍲 Design & Technology
In DT, we are learning about seasonal foods and will be making soup later this half term. This is a wonderful chance for the children to understand where food comes from and how to prepare it.
🏊 Swimming
We had our first swimming session this week and it was a great success – the children thoroughly enjoyed it! One thing to practise at home is getting changed quickly, so we can make the most of our pool time.
📚 Reading Reminder
Please remember to read, read, read! Regular reading at home makes a huge difference and supports every area of your child’s learning.
Thank you for your continued support. We are looking forward to another brilliant week ahead!
