Oak - 13.3.26

Here is an update on what Oak Class have been up to this week!

Maths – Perimeter

This week in Maths we have been learning about perimeter. Perimeter is the distance all the way around the outside of a shape. We practised adding the lengths of each side to find the total perimeter. We explored different shapes such as squares, rectangles and irregular shapes, and we worked together to measure and calculate their perimeters. Some students even created their own shapes and challenged their classmates to find the perimeter!

English – Character Descriptions

In English, we have been focusing on writing character descriptions. We discussed how good writers help readers imagine characters by describing their appearance, personality and actions. The class practised using powerful adjectives and interesting sentences to bring characters to life. Everyone showed great creativity when describing their own unique characters.

Art – Watercolours and Geometric Designs

In Art, we explored using watercolours to create colourful geometric patterns inspired by designer Frank Lloyd Wright. Students experimented with blending colours and controlling the amount of water on their brushes. After the paint dried, we added geometric designs on top, using shapes such as triangles, squares and circles to create interesting patterns. The final artworks were bright, creative and full of imagination.

Well done to this week's certificate winner - Declan and Reading Rex - Lottie!

Enjoy your weekend.
