What a fantastic week we have had!

It was great to get out in the sunshine to do some outdoor learning. We have been using this time to practice sticking together as a group ready for our trip to The British Ironworks Centre on Tuesday 19th May. I'm really looking forward to it!

This week the children have enjoyed the story of 'Amazing Grace' by Mary Hoffman. It explores themes of discrimination when Grace is told that she cannot be Peter Pan because 'that's a boys name' and 'because he isn't black'. The pupils were all very sensible in our discussions and outraged to think that how someone looks would affect what they can do. In the words of Grace's Nan 'You can be anything you want to be...if you put your mind to it!'

In maths we have been making equal groups by sharing and recognising when groups are not equal. Please continue to support your child to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In our PE lessons, we are beginning to develop skills needed for Sports Day. This includes running in a straight line! As the weather improves and you are spending more time outside, please help your child to practise underarm throwing and then catching a small ball such as a tennis ball. Here is short video to help:

Have a fab weekend,

Mrs Dowell, Mrs Mitchell and Mr Jones
