Happy Friday!

The children have settled back to school well and it has been a busy first week back.

The children have really enjoyed looking at the story ‘The Hairy Toe’ this week. We’ve created actions to the words:

Windy

Furry

Fearful

Creep

Distant

Swirling

They have enjoyed repeating phrases from the story such as ‘Where’s my hairy toe?’ and ‘Who’s got my hairy toe?’ using Makaton signs for where and who. In drawing club, the children drew a picture of a monster and tried to think of a way to catch the monster.

Our certificate winner this week is Jack. He has made fantastic contributions to class discussions. Well done!

In phonics, we’ve been looking at ‘ff’, ‘ll’, ‘ss’ and ‘j’. Please continue to help your child by practising their sound cards, using their sound cards to create words to try to read and read and share stories at home. Thank you.

In Maths, we’ve been looking at positional language, properties of some 2D shapes and have gone on a shape hunt. I wonder if they can find some shapes at home as well.

We have also been looking at Autumn changes and talked about Bonfire Night. The children have been creating firework pictures using chalk, making a pretend sparkler, collecting leaves for a pretend bonfire and moved like fireworks in our Dance lesson.

We hope you have a great weekend.

Mrs Fairclough, Mrs Kenny and Miss Hotchkiss
