Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a good week in class and the children have shown excellent enthusiasm across the curriculum.

In English, we have started looking at narrative writing. We have been exploring expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and speech. The children have worked hard to develop their understanding of how these features can make writing more detailed and engaging.

In maths, we have been exploring formal methods of addition and subtraction. The children have been practising how to use these methods accurately and confidently to solve calculations.

In history, we had a great discussion about Iron Age hillforts. We talked about why they were built, their benefits and how they changed the way people lived. The children shared thoughtful ideas and showed a good understanding of how these settlements helped to protect people and organise daily life.

We have had some children really build on their reading scores this week, please keep up the daily reading to support this.

I look forward to seeing you all at parents evening next week,

Mr Reynolds
