Sycamore Newsletter - 25/9/26

Dear Parents,

This week, in English, we have been exploring explanation texts. We were focusing particularly on:

• conjunctions to help join ideas clearly

• making careful vocabulary choices to make our writing precise and informative

  
  

In Maths, we have been learning about Roman numerals and are now investigating rounding to different place values. Remember all of the children have access to Mathletics which they can use at home to help practise the skills learnt in class.

In History, we have moved on from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age. We are looking at the impact that metal had on everyday life and how this changed the way people lived, worked and developed tools.

As you know, reading is so important to children's development of language and helps them with their writing. We now have a couple of children who have achieved over 20,000 words and a few more who have passed at least one quiz a week since starting in Year 4. Please keep encouraging them to read at home.
