Dear Parents,

What a fantastic and productive week we have had in Year 4!

I have been incredibly impressed by the quality and content of the children's writing. They have been working hard to develop their descriptions, using a fantastic range of expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials and commas to make their writing more interesting and detailed. It has been wonderful to see their creativity and enthusiasm shine through, and I am very proud of the effort they have put into their work.

In maths, we have continued to explore place value, developing our understanding of numbers and the value of each digit. Next week, we will be moving on to comparing and ordering numbers, building on the knowledge we have developed this week.

In geography, we have continued to explore our world and its structure. The children have been learning about tectonic plates and how volcanoes are formed. They have shown great curiosity and enthusiasm when discovering how our planet works.

To help the children develop their understanding of what we are covering in school, the children have access to spelling shed and Mathletics at home, which (as a class) we are currently leading the way in. Please encourage the children to log on if they have time to help support their learning.

As always, please continue to encourage your child to read daily at home, even if it is only for a short time. Some of the children are already making fantastic progress with their reading, and it is lovely to see their confidence and enjoyment growing.
