Oak Newsletter - 25.09.2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had another fantastic week in Oak Class, filled with learning, creativity and a memorable school trip!

🔢 Maths

This week, we have been learning about rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1,000. Some of the concepts were quite challenging at times, but the children demonstrated excellent perseverance and resilience when tackling tricky questions. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they practised and applied their new skills.

✍️ English

In English, we began our exciting new unit on setting descriptions, focusing on creating vivid descriptions of a World War II city. The children explored how authors create atmosphere and paint pictures in the reader's mind through their word choices.

Today, we incorporated music into our lesson. Using a range of instruments, the children worked together to recreate the sounds and atmosphere of a WW2 city. This creative activity helped them think deeply about the sights, sounds and feelings they could include in their writing.

🔬 Science

In Science, we began planning our upcoming parachute investigation. The children discussed how they could make their tests fair and started thinking about the factors that might affect how a parachute falls.

🚌 School Trip

We had a fantastic school trip this week which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The children were a credit to the school, showing excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day. We learnt so much from the experience and created some wonderful memories together.

💻 Looking Ahead

We would like to invite you to our Online Safety Afternoon on Thursday 1st October from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about keeping children safe online, and we look forward to welcoming as many families as possible.

🧥 Reminder

As the weather is beginning to turn colder, please ensure that your child brings a coat to school every day so that they can stay warm and comfortable during break times and outdoor activities.
