A great first full week back, everyone has made an excellent start to Year 1!

This week we have enjoyed the story 'The Dinosaur who Pooped a Planet' by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Pointer whom many of you may recognise from McFly! It's an hilarious book about a boy and his pet dinosaur who get stuck in Space.

In maths we are continuing to work with numbers within 10. We have been learning to read and spell the number words one to ten: eight is really tricky!

Mr Jones has begun to tell the children about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot; this will continue until half term.

We have made a good start with phonics as we are consolidating what the children learned in Beech Class. Soon, they will start Phase 5 graphemes and tricky words.

There will be a Phonics for Parents session on Thursday 24th September at 9.15am and 2.30pm. Please look out for further details.

Please make sure your child brings these items to school everyday:

  • Their yellow Reading Record and Phonics reading book in the plastic wallet provided.

  • Fresh water bottle

  • A coat

Hoodies are not to be worn on PE days. A school jumper or cardigan can be worn. Ear rings must be removed for PE or a consent form must be signed at the school office.

Please make sure your child's jumpers, cardigans and coats are clearly named. Thank you!

Have a fab weekend,

Mrs Dowell, Mrs Savory and Mr Jones.
